WMALC is dedicated to enhancing public education about the benefits of breastfeeding. WMALC supports improved access to lactation support services and comprehensive evidence-based education of health professionals to promote breastfeeding.
WMALC supports the need to increase the rates of breastfeeding initiation and continuation to meet the goals of Healthy People 2010.
WMALC supports the need to increase the breastfeeding rates to meet the goals of Healthy People 2020 and supports the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
The West Michigan Association of Lactation Consultants represents lactation consultants, lactation counselors, nurses, dietitians, physicians and nurse midwives who are active in the support and promotion of breastfeeding in their community, hospitals, and private practices.
We invite you to become involved with WMALC, share your experience, and work together to promote and support breastfeeding for mothers, infants and families in West Michigan.
